Liberty Lane Productions was officially formed in spring 2008 to produce the "A Piece of My Heart" short film, but its roots go back a decade, when aspiring screenwriter R. Presley Stephens, aspiring director/editor/cinematographer Stephen McKendree and aspiring actor Chris Ingle were all hired around the same time to work at a movie theater in Seminole, Florida.

They all stuck around for some time and over the years they were joined by aspiring producers Joshua Martin and Matthew Fish, musician Steve Bowman and hair stylist Jessica Karp, among others. At some point around 2004, they were all actually on the payroll at the same time, and at several points during their various tenures, they made experimental short films together whilst honing their individual talents.

Some eventually went to film school or off to work with production companies, but they stayed in touch in hopes of fulfilling their dream of making a serious feature film together one day with each of them in primary production roles.

Stephens, McKendree and Martin began kicking around the idea of producing "A Piece of My Heart" in 2007. Actually, this was probably the 1000th time they had kicked such an idea around over the 5-plus years they had known each other by then, but this time they were serious and had a little money to back up their scheme.

Their former workplace was one of those rare theaters where many employees really wanted to be involved in the moviemaking process instead of just earning some spending cash while shoveling popcorn or threading projectors. So the production company name isn't as generic as it sounds. It's an "inside joke."

Oh, yeah. The theater is located on Liberty Lane. It would help if you knew that.

Liberty Lane Productions is based in Tampa, Florida. LLP plans to make more independent films after the successful production and distribution of "A Piece of My Heart"; however, currently their entire concentration is on this one hot commodity.
